Hoboken and Jersey City have a thriving arts scene in spring and fall— art walks, gallery tours, live murals. When things heat up in the summer the art community becomes a little quieter (we like to think it’s focused on their creative process), but there are still plenty of events to look forward to.
We’ve rounded up our favorite art events for July in the area. How many will you attend?
Art Opening at the Biergarten
On July 1 at 7 PM at Pilsener Haus and Biergarten artist Diego Milian Chavez will have an opening reception to his exhibit titled “The Hours Devour Us.” The photographic work dives into time and how we make the most of the hours gifted to us. It will be on display on the beautifully preserved exposed brick walls in the Wintergarten Space. Located at 1422 Grand Street, Hoboken. This is a free event.
Unleash your creativity in a workshop
Every Thursday from 6 to 9 PM Issyra Gallery hosts an “Inspiration Trap” creativity workshop. Located at 300 Observer Highway, Hoboken. $30 on Eventbrite.
Sip on it
If you love coffee, learn how to make your own foam art! On July 9 at 7 PM Hidden Grounds Coffee Roasters is hosting a special Latte Art Workshop at their new coffee roasting facility at 700 Garden Street, Hoboken. Using milk and espresso, you will learn how to whip up your own coffee creations like a local barista. Tickets are $99.
Peter Tilgner Exhibition @ JC City Hall
July 1-30, 2021
Jersey City City Hall - Rotunda Gallery

Jazz Arts festival

Artisan market
Shop local artisans at the Main Street Pops outdoor artisan market on July 18 from 11 AM to 4 PM under the 14th Street Viaduct in Hoboken. You’ll find everything from puppy products to community artists all in one place. This is a free event.
Weekly event
If you’re a local Hoboken or Jersey City resident, chances are you’re familiar with Ricardo Roig and his cityscapes around town. Starting on July 22, every Thursday from 6 to 8PM at the W Hoboken you can hang out with Roig Collection Art Gallery and enjoy live music with small bites by Hudson Table. This is a free event located at 225 River Street, Hoboken.
